Phones that incorporate the Android operating system owned by Google are all the rave in the United Kingdom.
The Android platform represents 47.1 percent of the smartphone market in the U.K., v3.co.uk reported, citing figures from Kantar Worldpanel.
The BlackBerry devices supplied by Research in Motion ranked as the second most popular type of handset, with 21.5 percent share, ahead of Apple’s iPhone (20.8 percent), according to the report.
Comparing Android to Apple and RIM can be somewhat misleading because Android’s operating system is incorporated in dozens of smartphones made by different handset manufacturers, including HTC, Motorola and Samsung.
