Sprint Nextel is gearing up to debut an Apple iPad on its data network, according to a new report. Sprint will introduce the device before the holidays, but Apple-loving site 9to5mac said it couldn’t verify whether Sprint will support the iPad over its 4G WiMAX network.

When asked about the report, a Sprint spokesperson declined to comment to CNET, and the tech site was unable to reach Apple, which is traditionally mum before any official announcements.

The news comes on the heels of reports that Sprint soon will introduce another Apple product, the iPhone 5.

Apple hasn't officially introduced the iPhone 5, but analysts already have speculated that the device will be a huge seller – and that could help Sprint better compete in the smartphone market with its larger rivals, AT&T and Verizon Wireless. RBC Dominion Securities analysts have cited “unprecedented" demand for the iPhone 5.
