Are you ready for a scoop of Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich?
At the CTIA trade show next month in San Diego, the search-engine powerhouse is expected to spill details on the next version of its mobile operating system, Android 4.0, dubbed Ice Cream Sandwich.
The company has invited the press to an event at CTIA on Oct. 11 related to Android. Also a possibility is the unveiling of the Samsung Nexus Prime, widely expected to be the first handset to run on ICS.
Eric Schmidt, chairman of Mountain View, Calif.-based Google, revealed recently that Ice Cream Sandwich – a platform that is said to combine the most recent updates for smartphones and tablets into a cohesive operating system – will be on the menu in October or November.
Intensifying speculation over the new operating system, Engadget reported today that a man apparently ordered a Samsung Nexus S on eBay and discovered that the handset was running Ice Cream Sandwich. The tech site posted a video of the supposed Android 4.0-enabled handset, but the anonymous tipster confirmed to the gadget and consumer electronics news site that the Nexus S was remotely locked and wiped after the website posted the video.
