NTT Communications subsidiaries NTT America and NTT do Brasil have a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, expanding the reach of NTT’s Tier 1 Global IP Network into South America. NTT says the new PoP allows NTT to better enable Latin American service providers and content networks to access its high-capacity network.

“Sao Paulo is the ideal location to establish our first global IP network PoP in South America – it’s the epicenter of Latin America’s emerging marketplace with many opportunities for companies looking to increase their global footprint and drive the market forward," said Michael Wheeler, vice president of NTT America’s Global IP Network business unit.

NTT is plunging into South America because of its burgeoning role as an emerging market. The company says Latin America offers valuable opportunities to the global IP transit industry, and the new PoP will directly enable not only the growth of the local market but also the ability for global players to effectively and efficiently connect to Latin American infrastructure. NTT America and NTT do Brasil have been working closely with Latin American companies to identify how best to help them meet broadband growth demands.

“Together, through the deployment of this Point of Presence, we’re directly enabling the continued growth of the Latin American markets," said Yukio Adachi, president of NTT do Brasil.

NTT America and NTT do Brasil directly connect telecommunications companies, ISPs, content providers, CDNs and enterprises to major markets around the world via NTT Communications’ Tier-1 IP Backbone Network. NTT says the network provides high-volume data transport at a complete range of commercial-strength bandwidth options.
