TruConnect Mobile is rolling out a low-cost, 3G laptop and iPad data service on the Sprint wireless network.

TruConnect will give customers access to Sprint’s 3G data network now, with 4G and voice access in the future. The company says it is one of the first mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) to offer low-cost, mobile Internet services aimed at business professionals.

Users of TruConnect’s mobile Internet service pay a $4.99 monthly access fee and are charged 3.9 cents per minute for data they use. The service is available via a USB 3G dongle or a MiFi Wi-Fi device that can connect up to five devices to the service without tethering charges. It’s a no-contract plan without activation fees. Data doesn’t expire and there are no overage charges.

“The world is thinking differently about mobile data services which means users are asking for more control over their data plans, instead of being forced into high-priced, contract-based plans," said Kevin Hamilton, president and CEO of TruConnect. “The nationwide Sprint network allows us to ensure delivery of our services no matter where our customers go and we’re pleased to be partnering with such an industry leader."

"We've had more than 10 years' experience with our wireless wholesale services and are looking forward to leveraging that with a new generation of MVNOs," said Bill Esrey Jr., VP, Sprint Wholesale Solutions. “TruConnect’s services will certainly be of interest to business users and anyone looking for flexible mobile data and we’re pleased to have the company join our network."
