The Verizon Wireless LTE smartphone family is about to get bigger.
The Pantech Breakout will be the eighth 4G LTE device in Verizon’s smartphone lineup, but by far the least expensive. The Breakout will sell for just $100 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new, two-year service agreement. That’s $50 less than the next lowest-priced phone in this small, but growing club. The Breakout goes on sale Thursday, Sept. 22, both online and in VzW retail stores.
Customers will have access to custom Pantech widgets and can share media files between Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-enabled devices by using the Net Media app on their Pantech Breakout. The phone runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), has a 1GHz processor and a 4-inch display. You also get two cameras – a 5MP rear-facing lens and one that is front-facing for video chat. You can capture HD video at 720p. The phone comes with a pre-installed 8GB microSD card.
You’ll need to subscribe to a Nationwide Talk plan at $40 per month and a smartphone data package starting at $30 per month for 2GB of data.
Verizon Wireless promises download speeds of 5-12Mbps and upload speeds of 2-5Mbps on its 4G network.
