Global telecom giant BT has launched One Voice anywhere in the United States, its next generation voice app service.
Designed to lower rates such as international roaming costs and increase security for corporations, the service extends an organization’s phone network.
“Users set up their preferences so when a call is received, it is routed over the One Voice VPN network, saving toll costs from local service providers or mobile roaming fees," BT announced.
Instead of receiving a call on a mobile phone, a travelling employee can establish preferences to receive a call on a softphone or landline phone, BT said. One Voice anywhere can integrate with new IP-based platforms and TDM-based systems.
United Kingdom-based BT, which introduced the service at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2011 in Orlando, Fla., is targeting multinational customers in the United States.
“Mobile phones and smartphones are increasingly used for business voice calls," said Neil Sutton, vice president, Portfolio, BT Global Services, in a statement. "Costs can increase because businesses are charged as employees roam, retrieve voicemails and accept incoming calls, especially for international travellers. One Voice anywhere can help reduce voice costs for our One Voice customers."
