MobiTV, a provider of mobile TV services, says consumers viewed roughly 167 million minutes of mobile television on MobiTV-powered services in September.
That figure represented the largest total for any month in the history of the company, said MobiTV, which was founded in 2000. Emeryville, Calif.-based MobiTV, which filed for an IPO over the summer, noted that 65 percent of the minutes viewed were live programming.
MobiTV CEO Charlie Nooney said “the viewership numbers demonstrate continued consumer interest and demand for live mobile content, including one-time live events such as President Obama’s inauguration and this year’s royal wedding, and popular seasonal events such as college football and the NFL season."
MobiTV provides mobile TV services on behalf of AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile, among others.
