AT&T and America Movil on Monday announced signing a strategic memorandum of understanding to explore ways of offering communications services to multinational companies.

The MOU calls for the communications providers to share each other's networks.

Dallas-based AT&T said the proposed agreement would enable it to deepen its connections in Latin America by using America Movil's networks in 15 countries. Mexico City-based America Movil would have access to AT&T's global network infrastructure, enabling the Mexican telecommunications company to offer global IP-based services to customers in the U.S. and other parts of the world.

The companies also plan to work together to deliver enhanced VPN services and solutions to multinational companies that have operations in Latin America or do business in the region.
