DigitalRoute Preps to Help U.S. Providers Meet Bill Shock Guidelines

Mediation software provider DigitalRoute says it's ready to help wireless service providers meet new "bill shock" guidelines.

Just last month, the FCC, CTIA-The Wireless Association and Consumers Union agreed on several steps to be taken to help wireless customers avoid those pesky – and sometimes monstrous – overage charges that they didn't know they were incurring.

The most significant is the use of usage alerts that will notify consumers if they have gone over or are about to go over their allotted voice minutes, texts or data allotment.

Europe instituted regulations similar to these guidelines last year, and DigitalRoute says it already has delivered a proven bill shock prevention solution that enables rapid and cost-efficient deployment with minimum impact on existing infrastructure. The solution, based on its MediationZone platform, was recently deployed at a pan-European service provider, where it is currently serving seven international affiliates.

DigitalRoute and its partners have delivered MediationZone to more than 10 operators in the Americas Region during the past year. All of them are now live. The company says that experience makes it ready to deliver its solution in the U.S. and throughout the Americas.

“With our proven bill shock prevention solution and established support center in Atlanta, Ga., DigitalRoute is ready to deliver solutions to its customers and partners as they address this key initiative," said Stephen Rickaby, general manager at DigitalRoute Americas.
