Google Inc. and LG Electronics Inc. may introduce a TV using Google's software at the Consumer Electronics Show next year in Las Vegas, according to a report.

Sources with knowledge of the project told Bloomberg that the product would be LG's first model with Google TV.

Google TV lets you move between television programming and the Web and can perform a number of other functions, including acting as a photo slideshow viewer, gaming console and music player. Initial poor reception of the product reportedly caused a delay of its release last year.

A deal with LG could help the search engine giant revive Google TV as its early partner, Logitech International SA, backs away from the partnership after disappointing sales, Bloomberg reported.

Sales of Google TV have not taken off as anticipated, according to iSupply, a market research firm.

One challenge hampering growth in the market for smart televisions – TVs that support Internet connectivity and interactive features – is the absence of a coherent definition of what constitutes such a device, iSupply said last month, also noting that Google TV partner Intel is quietly diverting its resources away from the connected TV semiconductor space.
