Apple has been fined $1.2 million by Italy's Antitrust Authority because the consumer electronics giant failed to inform shoppers of their legal rights to technical support for two years, according to reports.
The Antitrust Authority said Apple only recognized a one-year standard warranty and induced customers to pay more for Apple's own support service, which overlapped in part with the free guarantee, BBC reported.
The Cupertino, Calif.-based maker of the iPhone and iPad is required to publish an extract from the Antitrust Authority's ruling on its website, and Apple must add details of the two-year guarantee to its own Applecare Protection Plan within 90 days, according to the report.
