Comcast Promotes Smit to Cable CEO

Comcast Corp. on Wednesday named Neil Smit CEO of cable communications. Smit also serves as president of Comcast Cable and is responsible for all aspects of the company’s cable business.

“Neil has done a phenomenal job," said Brian Roberts, chairman and CEO of Comcast Corp. "He has driven innovation, improved the customer experience, increased the speed of the introduction of new products, and has expanded our company into new opportunities for profitable growth. I look forward to his continued leadership of our terrific cable team," said Mr. Roberts.

Smit joined Comcast from Charter Communications where he served as CEO and director from 2005-2010.  Before that, he was president of Time Warner’s America Online Access business, overseeing AOL, CompuServe and Netscape ISPs. He also served at AOL as executive vice president, member services, and COO of MapQuest. He's also been a regional president with Nabisco and has served in a number of management positions at Pillsbury.
