Step aside Microsoft.
Google's Chrome 15 now ranks as the most popular web browser version.
That's according to an analysis conducted in the last full week of November by StatCounter, a website analytics company.
During that week, Chrome 15 snatched 23.6 percent of the worldwide market ahead of Internet Explorer 8 (23.5 percent), StatCounter announced.
However, Microsoft's Internet Explorer still reigns as the No. 1 Web browser when considering all versions of a particular Web browser.
“Google announced Chrome for business exactly a year ago and IT administrators appear to have embraced it in a remarkably short time," StatCounter CEO Aodhan Cullen said in a statement.
In the United States, though, Internet Explorer 8 remains the most popular browser version, according to StatCounter. But it's a different story across the pond: Chrome 15 surpassed Internet Explorer 8 in the United Kingdom during the week starting Nov. 7, said StatCounter, which provides free Web research and analytics.
