If you are wondering whether iPhone owners are loyal to Apple, consider this finding: Nearly one-third (30 percent) of iPhone 4 users have upgraded to the iPhone 4S.
That's according to a survey of 504 iPhone owners conducted by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, a securities research company.
The 64 GB version of the iPhone 4S, the most expensive model, has represented 23 percent of all iPhone 4S sales, Chicago-based Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) said.
The survey also found that just one-quarter of iPhone 4S smartphones were sold through Apple's stores and its website during the first three weeks since its October launch; the remainder were sold through carrier stores and websites as well as such retailers as Best Buy.
"The report highlights a number of other findings, including how AT&T, Verizon, and now Sprint have used the iPhone launch to build market share at the expense of other carriers, how Apple product ownership begins with an entry-level product such as the iPhone and builds to Mac ownership, and even how women prefer white iPhones," CIRP said.
