Verizon Communications on Wednesday said it considered purchasing Hulu when the online video website was seeking buyers.

Hulu, a website that lets viewers watch movies and TV shows over the Web, was just one of the online video options the telecommunications company examined, CNET reported, citing Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam at a UBS investor conference in New York.

"Over-the-top will be complementary," was quoted McAdam as stating.

McAdam made his remarks following a report that Verizon is planning to launch a service that would allow customers to stream TV shows and movies over the Internet.

McAdam declined to comment on the Reuters story that broke yesterday.
