Comcast Corp., the nation's largest cable TV operator, and Verizon Wireless, the biggest mobile-phone operator, are now officially a team.

Comcast on Monday announced that the companies are offering each other's services in areas in and around Portland, Ore., and Seattle.

Those two metropolitan areas are the first markets where Comcast and Verizon Wireless are promoting each other's products and services, putting into effect an agreement that the communications giants announced last month.

"The companies expect to further enhance and evolve the program based on customer feedback," Philadelphia-based Comcast said.

In Oregon, the services are available in metro Portland, Albany, Eugene and Salem. Comcast and Verizon Wireless also have introduced the services in Seattle and outlying areas such as Marysville, Tukwila and Woodinville.

Hoping to spur sales, Comcast said new customers who sign up for a qualifying Xfinity offering and a Verizon Wireless smartphone or tablet plan are eligible to receive a Visa prepaid car worth up to $300. Customers can order the services in person at a Verizon Wireless store, through the phone (1-855-704-7400) or online by visiting www.verizonwireless.com/xfinity.

In December, Verizon Wireless announced a $3.6 billion agreement to purchase 122 spectrum licenses from a joint venture among subsidiaries of Comcast Corp., Bright House Networks, LLC and Time Warner Cable Inc. The pact faces regulatory scrutiny. The companies also announced several commercial agreements that would enable the cable television operators and Verizon Wireless to sell each other's products and services.
