Netflix will no longer receive DVDs from HBO at a discount.
The change was believed to have taken effect on Jan. 1, but Netflix doesn't plan to discontinue offering HBO content even though it will have to buy DVD sets at retail prices, The New York Times said.
"Netflix will continue to provide HBO titles on DVD and Blue-ray to our members," the Times quoted a Netflix spokesperson as stating.
Netflix and HBO are competitors to some extent since they both offer a streaming video service. Time Warner's HBO GO service on PCs and Macs and the HBO GO mobile app are available free of charge to HBO subscribers through AT&T, DISH Network and other television companies.
Netflix doesn't have the rights to stream the TV shows or films that HBO televises.
