Some San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants fans in Washington, D.C. might have been terribly frustrated on Sunday. And not because the game leading up to the Super Bowl wasn't worth watching.
In the final moments of the NFC Championship game, some Comcast customers got stuck watching commercials, The Washington Post reported. Viewers, the Post said, reported that ads for Comcast Xfinity interrupted the game at least four times, including once during a critical play.
The reported culprit was WTTG Fox, a local affiliate for Comcast. "We know some D.C. area viewers missed portions of last night’s NFC Championship game due to additional ads inserted locally, and we sympathize with their frustrations ... WTTG believes it was due to an equipment failure at their station," the Post quoted a Comcast spokesperson as stating.
Giants fans may be more willing to forgive Comcast since their team won the nail-biter against the 49ers in overtime 20-17. Next up: The unforgiving Tom Brady and his New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
