CES 2012: ZyXEL Communications is showcasing the connected, digital home with a range of CPE for cloud services, on-demand applications and multiple broadband solutions.
“We believe cloud-based services will serve as a vital revenue generator for service providers moving forward," said Brian Feng, senior vice president of ZyXEL. “We intend to showcase field-tested solutions for the cloud and on-demand services that will help telcos quickly and cost-effectively deploy similar offerings to their subscribers."
The cloud-based services include video-on-demand (VOD), music downloads and data backup and storage, all based on the NSA310 media server, which functions as the subscriber's entertainment and information hub within the digital home.
The company will also showcase CPE that provides home monitoring, surveillance and automation, telehealth, energy conservation and smart metering. OSGi modules can be remotely provisioned to ZyXEL CPE for customizable services without replacing the gateways, resulting in greater cost savings and quicker service rollouts for telcos.
ZyXEL is also showing its new universal DSL and active fiber CPE, called the P873HNUP Bonded VDSL2 Gateway and the FSG1100 Active Fiber CPE, respectively. These multiple edge technologies will be used to demonstrate IPTV service over IPv6. They will also be seamlessly integrated with wireless home entertainment solutions like ZyXEL’s wireless-n HD media stream
