BlackBerry 10 Smartphones: 'London' Picture Leaked, Anticipation Grows

Research In Motion isn't expected to release superphones based on its BlackBerry 10 platform until late this year.

That's not stopping Crackberry from leaking a photo of what is reportedly the BlackBerry London. The device, Crackberry wrote, looks like a phone version of the PlayBook tablet computer.

The report raised speculation that the London is headed for the U.K., while Canada's BlackBerry-maker, RIM, is working on two other phones for development in the United States: the Laguna and Lisbon.

RIM, however, hasn't confirmed any of this information.

The company is expected to unveil its BlackBerry 10 operating system at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, later this month. RIM revealed in December that its line of BlackBerry 10 smartphones would be delayed until late this year.

Such delays could further stall RIM's recovery in the smartphone market. "[U]ntil BB10 handsets launch we believe RIM will continue to be challenged and could even see a loss," Jeffries & Co. analyst Peter Misek wrote in a company update last month.

Some analysts, however, believe that RIM's new CEO, Thorsten Heins, will put the company on track to meet its deadlines and release BlackBerry 10 products in line with the company's current schedule.
