Netflix won't be happy with its recent score in the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).
Customer satisfaction with the Web-based entertainment company plummeted last year 14 percent to a score of 74. That represents one of the largest year-over-year losses in the history of the ACSI.
Amazon, however, is probably stoked. The online retail giant's 2011 score slipped a modest 1 percent, but it boasts the best customer satisfaction score among both traditional and online retailers: 86.
Netflix took a shellacking in customer satisfaction because of its widely reported price increases and controversial, now defunct plan to separate its DVD by mail and streaming video offerings.
"While the plan was abandoned and the company has since started adding subscribers, the toll on customer satisfaction is heavy and Netflix remains in a precarious position relative to the rest of the industry," according to a statement from the ACSI.
Netflix's score is several points behind its peers; customer satisfaction with online retailers increased 1.3 percent to 81 last year. Some other online retailers that beat out Netflix include Newegg (85), Overstock (83) and eBay (81).
