Netflix Brings Back Its DVD-Only Plan

Netflix announced today that customers can once again sign up for a DVD-only plan.

This will allow new customers to get DVDs through the mail without additionally signing up for Netflix's Watch Instantly streaming service. The company's DVD library, which includes more 100,000 titles, starts at $7.99 per month, with an additional $2 per month for the Blu-ray titles.

You might say Netflix has now come full circle after a couple of near-disastrous PR moves last year. First, the company announced it was raising rates on its DVD+streaming plan from $9.99 per month to $15.99. If that wasn't enough, the OTT giant decided to separate its DVD and streaming businesses, renaming the DVD operation "Qwikster," a move that further frustrated customers and only lasted a few days.

Now, new customers are once again allowed to sign up only for the DVD/Blu-ray service. Those who were already getting only discs did not have any service interruption.
